![]() I will open files with other programs from time to time and don't want windows to assign that type to that program. It is this Chimp's way, but it worksĪfterwards, I also go back and take that check mark out out of the 'always' box. 001 file and it will open HJSplit instead of doing it the other way. 001 and assigned it to HJSplit (always checked). Instead of opening HJSplit and going to the. ![]() and CCleaner was always finding them as unused. I did this with the stand alone program HJSplit. You should now have an assignment and CCleaner will no longer want to clean it out. Then go back and re-rename the file back to whatever extension it was before you changed it to. The program won't play cause it wasn't a real dvr file, but that is fine, just close out everything. The check mark is important, that is what triggers putting the assignment into the registry. Then r-click the file, choose 'open with', make sure the box at the bottom "always use this program for this type of file" has a check-mark. (Windows will protest about changing an extension, but ignore and click through that). Take a a small file, r-click it, and rename it to whatever.dvr. There is a "Chimp" style work around for this if you want to play a little. If you have never used something with that extension, your system may not have a program assigned/associated with that extension, and CCleaner will consider it unused. Looks like you have Windows Media Center, yes? If you use it, there is a possibility that windows or updates will put it back there on you.
